Public Display of Affection

Friends and family:

This is my (Janet's) last post from Chile. I am leaving Valparaiso and Steve (mi corazón) and Kareem (mi manjar) tomorrow for NC, USA to go to a wedding, then to TX to see my significant other (mi amor), and then to CA to see my family and Linda & Grace (mis favoritos). While I have a lot to look foreword to at home, I am very sad to be leaving my two traveling companions. I have been assured many times by Kareem and Steve that I am very lucky because many women would love to be in my shoes: sleeping under the same roof with them in remote mountain cabins, eating the same food at the same table, gazing into their deep, long-lashed brown or hazel eyes, and of course wearing the same pants. I must concede that they are two very fine specimens of men and therefore I must indeed be very lucky. Having spent the past few weeks almost constantly in their company, I have learned a lot about them (maybe too much) and still managed to fall even more in love with them.

Kareem and Steve:

I've enjoyed our Chilean adventures together, good and bad. I love you two very dearly, very sincerely, and very easily; even when you're giving me a hard time, or when you're angry with me, or if your hair is ridiculously long, or if you've finally lost the baby fat in your cheeks. When we leave each other at the terminal tomorrow, the next time I see you will be in Beijing. I wish you both a safe journey through Chile, home, and to China. I will miss you.

With much love,
Janet

Yes, I know this picture is very dark (Click to enlarge). It's us in our remote mountain cabaña shot from the outside through the window.
